Cube is the first Dutch museum that is totally dedicated to design. It is located at the Museumplein (museum square) in Kerkrade.


Cube design museum offers a permanent exposition called “This is Design”. Next, there are 3 floors with changing expositions. All dedicated to the same theme: Design for Human Needs.

A visit to Cube gives an insigh into the process of design and development. It inpires and stimulates to actively think about design in the world. Cube is also a lab were visitors, students and designers work together on innovative product design.

The museum attracks an international audience with interest in the process of design. The museum does not focus on presenting new collections, but is more dedicated to the design itself.

For decates we are developing the world we live in. We develop objects, applications and services that keep us dry, fed, healthy, safe and satisfied. It is innovation driven by big or little needs. It brings us convenience, new products, etc…
According to Cube, development raising from these needs and emotions make the difference in the world.


Cube Design Museum, Continium Discovery Center and Columbus Earth Center are part of the Stichting Museum voor Industrie en Samenleving (Foundation Museum for Industry and Society).
All three are located together at the Museumplein in Kerkrade and tell part of the same story: the ralationship of humanity with the world around him.

Meaningful design

On the lowest level of the Museumplein you will find the restaurant “Brasserie M”. This is a great place to have lunch or to rest while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Opening hours:
Tuesday – Sunday: from 10:00h – 17:00h uur.
On national holidays and school holidays (south region) the museum also opens on Monday.

Closed on:
– Carnaval (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday)
– December 25 (Christmas)
– January 1 (Newyears Day)
– April 27 (Kingsday)

0-4 year: free
Individual: € 12,-
Dutch Museum Card: free

Combination tickets are available if you plan to visit the Continium or Columbus on the same day. Please check the Cube website for further info.

The museum is wheelchair accessible.
There are special parking lots for disabled people on the P+R near the train station of Kerkrade-Center and in fron of the Cube.

Pets are not allowed, with the exception of registered guide dogs.
